i want sooo bad to make a florida man joke, but i can't.

i hope this is subdued quickly. i have a few friends in that area, i care about dearly (as should we for any life), and i would be an absolute wreck if they died.

Indeed, and for all the grief they get, every time I've visited there has been a fun time. There's a lot to like about Florida. Hope this doesn't get worse.

Agreed.. Florida’s been getting a bad rap for a long time, unjustifiably IMO.. Crazy ish goes on everywhere, all the time, but somehow Florida has become the ‘Karen’ of states... Besides, Florida’s not even really one state, it’s really three distinct areas.. South FL/Miami is a mix of Hispanic and northern transplants.. the panhandle is basically like an annexed section of Alabama.. and the middle consists of theme parks and farming.. i may be generalizing just a smidge, but you ge the picture.

Yeah, I've been to Destin, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, and Miami. They're all pretty different. I can't say I've ever had any bad experiences there. That said, all of that was 20+ years ago. Maybe it's different now. Idk.

i've lived in pompano beach, ft lauderdale, and oviedo. none are anything alike. though, oddly, pompano and ft lauderdale are a stone's throw from each other, they are totally different.

It is very dry down here. Really nice outside today, not too warm and a nice breeze, but any spark will set off a wildfire right now. Had a small fire just outside of my little town quickly turn into over 500 acres late last week I think.
