I was in New York City for a while beginning eight days after the towers came down. I visited the men of Ladder 25 several times during my stay. (I am an LPC) Their trucks and every fire truck that I saw during my visit had a 3' X 5' American flag flying above their rear step-board. I felt a lot of emotions every time I saw one but most of them were uplifting. I think the entire city felt most of the same things. Firefighting is in my family (brother, nephew,and step-son are all full-time firefighters) and I know from experience that the vast majority of their fellow firefighters support having the flag displayed in some way on their trucks.
