Force Feeding DA is About Loomis Trying to Prove that He Can Win a Championship Without Payton and Brees (2 Viewers)

Since Payton has left, Loomis has...

Tried to ruin the franchise by giving up the farm and the worst NFL contract of all time to a known sexual deviant.
Hired a proven failure as a HC.
Kept a figure head at OC for two years after seeing it wasn't going to work four weeks into his first season.
Allowed a string of quality coaches leave to be replaced by has been or never was guys
Allowed that failure of a HC to sign a mediocre, overpriced QB, who he has already coached and failed with the first time around.
Traded up for an OL that two years in, the fanbase is thrilled because he's playing "not terribly"
Traded up for a WR who is frail, soft and concussion prone, while showing lack of effort and desire frequently
Extended a RT with a degenerative knee
Extended a MLB in his mid 30s
Extended a DE in his mid 30s
Extended Ruiz who has proven to not be very good
Signed a FA in Chase Young who is now on his third team because he's a bust
Extended the loser QB after a season in which he proved he was what we thought he was and nearly had the team's best OL (McCoy) beat him up in the middle of a game
Paid a ton of money to a diva narcissist WR in Thomas who is so done he can't even get a minimum deal elsewhere
Has the team with the worst cap situation in the NFL and almost no good young talent

I mean that's just off the top of my head.

Why exactly should Loomis have a job? Anything he did 10 years ago is irrelevant.

Why play psychologist at all? He thinks Allen can do the job and is willing to give him time to do it. I don't like it, you don't like it, but that's what it is. No need to pretend to understand Loomis' psyche.
People can play whatever role they want in trying to figure this team out. It's their choice.

As much as I want to believe Loomis still has "it", I'm just not sure at all. In the last 3 years, I can't see a single move made that has worked out to our favor. Much of it I believe is by proxy of keeping DA as HC. But this past offseason, extending everyone instead of getting the cap back in order really, super baffles me.

If there ever was a chance to turn this franchise into a dynasty at some point in the next 3-5 years, this past offseason had to be the start. Now it seems too late. No decent coach is coming here after this season with the cap in utter destruction, and stuck with a mediocre QB, with so much money tied into aging vets that barely produce (No high profile Head Coach candidate is going to take a job where he's set up to fail, much like Carolina).

We really outta start having conversations of who is the most attractive place for a head coach to go. Cleveland Brows or New Orleans. Wow. Actually typing that, and realizing its a very valid debate, really, super really, shows just how far down Loomis has allowed us to fall sticking with DA.

I didn't say they couldn't. I said there was no need to. It makes a person look stupid because they don't know what they're talking about. They don't have the training, the education, or the skill to do it so they just end up saying stupid things rather than accept what it is they do know.

Many of us who cover the team, regardless if we are credentialed or not, don't know what we are talking about. That doesn't make us look stupid.

Sure. So if you think TJay has a point, why you think Loomis is keeping DA because it's "his time to shine"?

Wouldn't it make more sense for him to blame DA for the failures and hire another coach if he wanted to "shire", take credit, and deflect all blame?

How exactly is Loomis shining by sticking with a head coach that the entire fan base wants fired and has led many in the fan base to want him fired because he won't fire that head coach?

Hiring a new head coach is his easy way out to take buy more time and take a shot at winning without Payton and Brees.

Because he thinks the DA experiment can work.

This is the simplest and most obvious explanation. But, we live in a world where people want intrigue. They want conspiracy theories to be true. They want a true villain to hate.

Exactly. So it's not about his ego or wanting to get the credit. He legitimately thought that DA could win. I think he is tragically wrong about that, but I also think that if DA doesn't win 7 or 8 games this year Loomis is going to fire him.

If he doesn't then Loomis has clearly lost his judgment and needs to go too.

That's what this mainly boils down to. If this were elsewhere, DA would have gotten a one-to-two-year window to show he's a competent HC.
If Loomis is trying to prove this he is failing miserably. Maybe it’s time for him to go.
