Barry Bennett, a third round draft pick in 1978 out of Concordia by the New Orleans Saints, was shot multiple times and killed along with his wife. The couple was found dead Wednesday in their Minnesota home.

Bennett’s 22-year old son, Dylan John Bennett, is being sought by authorities in connection to the deaths and believed to have fled to Mexico. An arrest warrant has been issued as the son has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Barry Bennett played in 50 contests with the Saints 1978-’81, sharing defensive line duties with Derland Moore, Elex Price, Elois Grooms, Joe Campbell, Don Reese and Jerry Boyarsky. In 1979, he made 14 of his 24 starts with New Orleans.

Following his days in the Big Easy, Bennett played the remainder of his 11-year career with the New York Jets except for one game in 1988 with the Minnesota Vikings. While in New York, he had a career high 7.5 sacks in 1985 while playing alongside Mark Gastineau and Joe Klecko.
