It was in the front cover of a book we picked up at a garage sale. Any thoughts?

1st District, Square 71. Shouldn't be that hard to track down.

I would contact Richard Campanella, who has written many books and articles about the history and geography of New Orleans. A couple of things that stood out to me were that this would have been a very large amount of money in 1824 and that there is very specific use of English (as opposed to French).

The bill appears to be for Cornelius Paulding, who was apparently a wealthy person in the 1820s. If you Google his name, you mostly find references to various properties he owned.

I don't remember. I have a habit of buying books to read. Could have been anything. It was a few years ago.
