I looked on nfl.com and didn't see it mentioned anywhere.

2008 it's 13 of 32 (40.625%)

Last year it was 6 of 32 (18.75%)

More than double over last year.

We'd better take care of Colston while it's still affordable. He's in his last year, and if it's a monster ...we will have problems keeping him.

I think the Saints keep Colston without a problem. Colston has already been quoted in saying that New Orleans is the only team that he wants to play for...

I agree with this to an extent. But how did we pry Jason David from the colts, he was a RFA and we offered him a deal with the poision pill that the colts couldn't match. Then we got david but because he was restricted we had to pony over a 4th (the round david was originally selected in)

You don't see some team possible doing the same to use, offering Marques a nice deal big bonus etc. etc. and forking over a 7th rounder for one of the best youg wr's in the league. We will still have 7 days to match the offer. But then we aren;t doing the negoations, we are litting his agency drive up the price, heck if I were the Falcons (after I killed myself that is) I would offer him a ton of money nice bonus up front. Best case, they get colston and are set at WR for the next 10 years and give up a 7th, worst case, they drive up his price making us have to shell out and equal or greater contract for him, probably costing us more than it would be to just pay the man now conisdering we have what 30 mil in cap room. I'd do it on principal just to mess with the division rival. But I can see other teams needed a WR going after him as well. There is a caculated risk involved if we do not re-up his deal now IMO.

Now I agree he wants to and will be a Saint, but I also think its better to hammer out this deal NOW at whatever cost. I think we run a risk by not doing so.
