Among the 10 new NFL coaches hired in the offseason, no one has a better record than the Saints' Sean Payton.
At 7-4, he is tied with Kansas City Chiefs Coach Herm Edwards. But Payton's achievement is more impressive, considering the Chiefs were a 10-win team last season, while the Saints won three.
"I think he definitely deserves (to be selected coach of the year)," Saints quarterback Drew Brees said of Payton, who has excelled as an offensive strategist and a team-builder in his first season as a head coach at any level.
