The ‘Mars’ tv show for NatGeo tried to do this
1/2 hard science interviews with scientists prepping for a mars mission and 1/2 fiction about a crew landing on mars
Unfortunately neither part was very compelling (or maybe the tonal shifts were too jarring) - I thought the concept would have been a layup, but it shows the importance of good storytellers and editors
