Soupcan, I am so thankful it was caught early. You are truly blessed! I hope the recovery goes as easily as it can.

A few years ago my sister pulled her car into her garage and was about to go take a shower. Luckily she noticed the car burning before she went up stairs and was able to push it out with the help of a neighbor before it burned down their log cabin with her in the shower.

Sorry to hear about the fire Dan. I went through the same thing about 30 years ago. Lost everything. Started over from scratch. Fire bad.

Here's to wishing everything gets settled and back to normal soon. :9:

the cat's bed was in the back left corner---an old dog cage with a light bulb on a timer so she'd be warm at night.

guessing that's what caused it---

the propane tank was quite a sight when it blew.

damn Soupcan. So Sorry bout the stuff but you really are blessed. Take that girl out for a steak and make your neighbor pay for half because that would have been his arse too.

everything that was of value has been pulled out, inventoried and photographed (what a great wife i got!), now its all in a pile waiting for the insurance adjuster who should be here monday.

still scooping up mud and ash.

thanks all for your support.

Wow is right! This has me thinking about all the near-misses that happen to us each day. Something so simple and predictable, but...

I'm to the point where I try to check each electric plug/cord/device to see where it's made before I buy it. China/dollar store = no go. If I do have to replace something, I'm opting for an older/secondhand, Made in USA version from Goodwill or the Habitat store.

So glad you're okay, and hope your cat was out and about and is unharmed.

cat's fine---thanks for asking.

just finished totalling the stuff--------$9650 worth of burnt crispy goods at retail price. garage replacement estimated at around 20k including the unpictured attached three season porch and fence and basketball court repair.

Glad everyone is safe - sorry this has happened.

The same thing happened to my next door neighbor a few years ago. The fire department was impressive, kept it from being way worse. God bless 'em, we really do take them for granted.
