Know it's been a while.

This week:

Starship Troopers: Great movie? Cheesy Fun? or Horrible?

It was on recently and I hadn't watched it in years. I enjoyed it.

Introduced the world to Denise Richards, Casper Van Dien's chin, pre- Barney NPH, always reliable Clancy Brown, Nazi overtones, over the top acting.

Never saw the 2 sequels so this is just for the original

I love this movie. Yes, it's ridiculous, but it's fun!

It's awesome. It becomes even more awesome when you realize all the insane, fascist, militaristic insanity Verhoven is turning into straight parody in the movie is originally in Heinlein's novel and written in total sincerity. He basically made that movie as an act of trolling Heinlein's political and social beliefs.

Co-ed showers, giant bugs, and crazed ideology--what's not to love?

Book was good, movie was awesome.

Part two wasn't really great. Part three continues Rico's story and is pretty good, and it actually uses the Marauders from the book.

Love the movie... It's a quilty pleasure..

I like the movie until I read the book. Now I just think the movie is dumb.

I remember seeing it at the Galleria twice. Great movie.

Except that RAH himself wrote it as a trolling exercise. He was always about the "What if?"

I don't understand the options "Great" and "cheesetastic."

It is supposed to be cheesy, therefore it is great because it is cheesetastic.

I've said this before on here but I find it amazing the CGI in Starship Troopers (made about 15yrs ago) is better than the CGI in many big contemporary films.

X-Men:Wolverine, that werewolf in Harry Potter, the last three Star Wars, Green Lantern, etc. all fail when compared.

:worthy:Paul Verheoeven
