Ghislaine Maxwell Trial (Epstein’s side piece) (18 Viewers)

First of all, there are many in the thread saying that Kimmel had it coming because of past jokes.

They are not the same.
It's very simple. If, even as a comedian, you make your living out of taking personal shots at individuals then you shouldn't be shocked when one of them takes it personally and punches you in the face. Doesn't make it right to punch someone in the face. Just saying if you don't want someone to take something personally then stop mocking individuals on a personal level. No one is saying these two things are the same.

No, it's not that simple.

If, as a comedian, you make your living out of making jokes at someone else's expense, you shouldn't be shocked if someone cracks a joke back.

Accusing you of pedophilia with a straight face which could potentially lead to your assassination is not a proportional response.

Again what are the things Kimmel has done
There have been plenty of allusions, but what are the specific accusations?
Why me? I'm not the only person saying how they think Kimmel is a low-life.

You are capable of doing your own research. I'm not going to sit here for an hour or so surfing the web to prove to you that Kimmel is a "degenerate" when the only reason you want me to "provide examples" is so that you can dismiss them. My opinions of Kimmel are my own, you don't have to share them.

You made the original accusation (that I remember), I assumed you had specific examples at hand
I see now I’m mistaken
I only ask that you don’t keep making the accusation unless you’re prepared to back it up

You literally typed “They are both in the wrong”.. to anyone with even a tenuous grasp of the English language, that implies that they are both ‘guilty’ of similar, or basically, the same things.. I guess this is where we are when we even attempt to have an adult conversation in 2024 .
No, it does not imply that at all. You are just taking it that way because you are trying to read too much into what I am saying. Your previous post stating "unless you have some extreme agenda you are trying to push" is direct evidence of that.

And I just want to point out that you JUST posted something commending the group on not being personally insulting to one-another and here you are being personally insulting.

And with that, I'll respectfully bow out of this conversation.

Did Rodgers have a straight face when he made that crack about Kimmel?

Did you take A-Arons comments seriously?

This is a really weird digression from the actual subject matter of the associates of Epstein, which neither Kimmel or Rodgers are. At this point while I think a discussion is what are reasonable expectations a comedian should have in regards to pushback would be interesting, I think it should be another thread at this point.

most people didn't take him seriously. but most aren't the problem. the some who are crazy ones absolutley would. people are already posting fake flight logs with his name on it, soley because of what Rodgers said...

He had more of a smirk on his face when he said it, he 100% didn't laugh after he said it.

Again, and I think some of us are missing this entirely.....when Kimmel makes a joke about someone on his show, that joke is pulled from a headline or from a public statement by that individual, or from a social media post by or about that individual. He doesn't just pull something out of thin air because the joke would fall flat as no one would know what he is talking about. When Rodgers made his "statement", not a joke, it was not based on anything factual that has been levied against Kimmel, or anything Kimmel has said, or anything anyone else has said about Kimmel. It was pulled completely out of his arse for the specific purpose of attacking someone. He wasn't making a joke because there was nothing there to begin with to make a joke about. And in doing so, has made Kimmel and his family targets from violent nuts out there that pick up this kind of crap and run with it because they believe everything they are fed.

How about I tell you about my time at after-school care at 7 years old? Or on the school bus at 9 years old where I was assigned a seat with a girl older than me who was touching me every day for months and the bus driver wouldn't listen?

Yea, me too. And I've only told my wife and this forum now, too.

None of that discredits anything I said.

This is completely unrelated to the topic.

I am sorry you went through that, I believe I understand how you feel.

Clearly our responses are different. I am Old Testament you are new kind of thing. I don’t think either of us will change the other persons mind.

So again I am saying in a heartfelt manner I am sorry for what you went through and have a nice day.

My knee jerk reaction to this is that the two are not equal (Rodgers' comment and Kimmel's "joking"). But I'm starting to come around to them maybe being the same, the only difference being one is a dumb jock who isn't funny. I think it's possible Rodgers' intent was 100% to be funny (did he truly believe Kimmel was on the list?) I think it might have just been a dumb jock trying to be funny ("He's gay, HAHAHAHA"). And if that's the case, there's no difference, except in the quality of humor, which shouldn't play into this analysis at all. Intent is all that matters. And all the people out there who don't have a nuanced sense of humor and don't think Kimmel is funny, probably find these two exactly the same and are wondering why Kimmel's being such a hypocrite.

Unfortunately this has become more and more common. As people cannot defend from a joke or attack, which has validity, what has become popular is simply throwing out things like this. It’s become an acceptable way to do things with some people, and in our current blend of social media/news gets reported on as any crazy thing for attention.

To me, this shows that Rodgers basically has nothing other than essentially calling names. A dangerous name, and one that will probably end up not going well for him in the long term.

and if you watch the video, Rodgers didn't laugh at all when he said it. he wasn't joking. That is why McAffe came on and said what he said because he knew Rodgers wasn't saying it as a joke, that it was somethig he wanted other to believe.

Wait- you are saying that me stating something obvious like your implication that they are equal- and since you said ‘they are both guilty’ it’s hard to come to any other conclusion.. but you are saying that that is me PERSONALLY INSULTING YOU ?? Buddy, i have seen personal attacks, online and elsewhere.. and if you think me debating you and stating that your argument is disingenuous is a PERSONAL ATTACK/INSULT .. then man, wait until you get out into the real world- or into less civil online forums- and find out what a real personal attack is ..…. You are correct, if you take somehting like that as a personal insult- then you probably should bow out .
