Ghislaine Maxwell Trial (Epstein’s side piece) (29 Viewers)

David Copperfield was a surprise.
Just adding this anecdote- my sister was a Broadway dancer and she auditioned for Copperfield even though there were strong whispers of him being less than scrupulous with his dancers (or anyone really)
She passed the audition and then saw the contract- it was $2500 a week BUT $1000 of that would be reserved and only paid out if you fulfilled your whole contract (1 or 2 years, I can’t remember which)
She took that as the last red flag she needed and turned the gig down (also it just wasn’t the dancing she wanted to do)

Other completely tangential anecdote- my first roommate in NYC (actually Long Island city) was the lighting designer for Copperfield
But he’d signed a NDA which he took very seriously so I got all of zero stories from him

I think it’s the ‘tenuous grasp of the English language’ that he was responding to
Or he could have been looking for a reason to bounce

Nah, i did say ‘anyone with even a tenuous grasp of the English language’ would come to the same conclusion- but again, that’s not even close to what constitutes a “personal insult” or attack in the year 2024.. not even close .

That’s wild, just the financial aspect.. ive heard of ‘signing bonueses’ for real world jobs (non athletic or entertainment) being deferred for like 6 months .. but ive never heard of what amounts to roughly 40% of ur salary being deferred for a year or two before you get paid.. it’s good that she turned it down but obviously there were many who accepted these terms and likely didnt have much , if any, leverage who really needed the work .

I was simultaneously proud of her a bit shook (I was in one of the top touring modern dance companies at the time and we were only pulling $500/week at best
Her turning down something 3-5x my ‘salary’ was…notable

I don't think anyone in this thread is not agreeing that Rodgers took it way too far. But the fact of the matter is Kimmel has as well. Just because Rodgers took it further doesn't change the fact that Kimmel was out of line to begin with. Kimmel is petty & spiteful and Rodgers is obviously, overly vindictive. They are both in the wrong.
I respectfully disagree.

I just fail to see what Kimmel joked about Rodgers that was over the line or “too far”. Perhaps I missed something?

Even if Kimmel did got too far, what Rodgers did took it to a level that makes it impossible to even try equating the two. “They are both in the wrong” no longer works after what Rodgers said (imo).

Bingo. A crazy man brought a gun to a pizza place in D.C. b/c he believed nonsense about a pedophile ring he learned from Q.
And Kimmel has said that his family has received threats.

We’ve seen fake posts and flight logs with Kimmel’s name since Aaron’s comment.

I don’t care to litigate how much of a straight face he may or may not have had. This is not a joking matter and it was not an innocent comment.

It's just like most everything else - for some, things like this have to almost always fall on and be argued from this side or that side of dividing lines.. and in this case it's readymade for it as Rodgers already represents something and Kimmel already represents something within that worldview.. and when you're operating in that way it doesn't leave much space to criticize what is on your side of the divide.

Thanks a lot Covid-19!

Prior to Covid people just thought that Rodgers was a dbag because he was estranged from his family.

Prior to Covid people just thought that Kimmel that was a dbag because he made political jokes; and wore black face.

Then Covid 19 happened and things changed.

Pre 2019 were such simpler times.

For the record I don’t care for either guy’s sense of humor. It’s Mitch Hedberg or nuthin baby!

Haven't watched his stuff much in years now but Mitch is my jam as well.

Kinda ironic because I could see that Rodgers interview being a sketch from The Man Show.
