Last year I was married to my beautiful wife and we are coming up to our 1 year anniversary. My uncle gave us a $75 gift certificate to Emerils, so I think we can finally afford to eat there for dinner :) Now, the certificate says we can eat at any of the resturaunts. So in NOLA, we have Emeril's New Orleans, NOLA Resturaunt, and Emerils Delmonico's.

I've never eaten at one, nor have I heard anything about them from people. Also, never ate fine cuisine except what they serve you on a cruise ship.

So the question is, which one should we dine at? I am willing to spend $50, so we will have $125 to eat/drink. I think that is enough?

We plan on spending the entire day out there and probably will eat Red Fish Grill for lunch.

Thanks :ezbill:

You will get the most for your money at NOLA and the least at Delmonico. Delmonico is the most expensive, and arguably the best. I'd go to Emeril's - the flagship.

And $125 total is really pushing it, if you're planning on drinking alcohol.

I can spend more. I'd rather keep it to $50 seeing how we were going shopping and eating lunch.

Putting money out of the equation, which is the best one to eat?

It depends what you are after. In theory, Delmonico is the most high brow and refined. I was underwhelmed the last time I ate there. Emeril's would be my choice. A bit more casual but the food is pretty damn good.

Delmonico's is probably the best - but it's also more stuffy. They will do a really good dry-aged steak and more classics like that.

You will get more of the "Emeril's experience" at the flagship restaurant. More of the recipes from TV and the cookbooks, instead of the classics like at Delmonico. I think it's a more fun place, and more interesting, which is why I would pick that one.

NOLA is sort of Emeril's test kitchen and cycles the menu more frequently. They have more 'cutting edge' cuisine there. It's the cheaper of the 3 but by no means is it a bad resturant. I've had some great meals there and I personally love it very much.

Delmonico, as others have said, is the top end of the spectrum. GREAT steaks and very little changes to the menu. I think it's a little too stuffy for my tastes, and I love fancy resturants.

Emeril's is always great. A great mix of classic dishes and interesting cuisine and a very good wine list. Like Buzd said, if you are planning on have drinks with dinner, $125 may be pushing it. It's my favorite of the 3 and definitely the one I'd go to for your first Emeril's dinner.

BTW, Red Fish Grill is great, too!. I love the food there and it's a good value. It's one of my favorite places to eat in the quarter, I always recommend it.

I like them all, but for $125 the answer is Emeril's for me.

Is price is no object, and I mean that, Delmonico's is a top notch place that gives you a great dining experience. But I would not go there if you are watching your wallet. My wife and I drink( cocktail each before dinner and a couple glasses of wine each with dinner) and we can spend 3 bills plus in there without tip easy. Emeril's is a damn fine place to eat and you'll have a great time there also. I have never been to NOLA's but I haven't heard anything bad about it either.

You're gonna have a good time, congrats.

Hubby & I went to NOLA Restaurant on our honeymoon in New Orleans. The meal I had there remains the best meal I've ever eaten. I loved the atmosphere (I hate stuffy restaurants) & the service was absolutely outstanding. The food was to die for.

Happy Anniversary!!!

Last time I went to Emeril's I found it to be average. The service wasn't great and the food was ok. I honestly thought about sending my lamb chops back. That was the 4th time I had been and the other 3 times were great so it must have just been an off night, which is still strange.

That's the only one I have been to and I would recommend it. 4 of us....a couple apps, entrees and 2 desserts, plus a few drinks was around $225 plus tip. Not bad considering everything is usually perfect.

Emeril's wasn't impressed for $ value. Delmonico's was cool escorted us through kitchen to dinning in rear sitting area away from crowded front. Love the way all the chef's stop cooking and greeted us as we walked through. Party of 4 with 2 bottles of the inexpensive $80 wines
tax, and tip $600. Food and service was great.

Red Fish is the one restaurant that we always visit at least once every time we're in NOLA. We really liked Emerils those 2 times we've ate there too.

I've never been terribly impressed with Redfish Grill, although I expect it's me more than them. I like the atmosphere and that they have an oyster bar. I also agree that it's reasonably priced.
