OK, it appears most of you on here have forgotten the first 3 years of the Sean Payton era.
2006: 10-6 (With Drew Brees at quarterback and an overachieving defense)
2007: 7-9 (Still has Drew Brees at quarterback)
2008: 8-8 (Still has Drew Brees at quarterback and I can remember the website www.fireseanpayton.com)
My point is, after that 2008 season, most on here were ready to send Payton packing. (I'm sure someone can pull up a few threads in the old archives). So, I ask you, if we would have had a young Drew Brees on this team, with Dennis Allen at the helm, do you not think that we would have easily won this division?
Look, I'd love for Dennis Allen to be more fired up, but that's just not his personality. I do think we need a new OC to bring in a new system, but the thing we need the most is a QB that can be "The Man" like Brees was and win games for us when everything else is not going so great.
For the past 5 to 7 years, everyone on here's key phrase was "Make it Happen Loomis" and Loomis was heralded one of the great general managers in the league. No way do I believe that he's lost his touch over the course of 1 year.
Plain and simple, Sean was a very good coach, but without Brees, he would have probably been run out of here before his first contract expired. Let's give Dennis a chance next year to see if he and Loomis can get something done.
