Algae-powered building could represent the future of green living, claim developers | Mail Online

The world's first algae-powered building is being piloted in Hamburg.
The building, which was designed by multinational firm Arup, features panel glass bioreactors on the facade which contain microalgae.
These algae generate biomass and heat as a renewable energy source.

Far out man. I haven't seen an algae powered building in years.

I keep harping on the difference between Germany and America's renewable energy initiatives. They have us looking like we're in the stone ages.

We are in the Stone Age when if comes to it. The Germans are pushing the envelop in a lot of ways in alternative energy.

That's because we pander to lobbyists here, and the oil lobby has been at it for a long time.

Shakespeare said it best: ''The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers''

Anybody wanna guess what most lobbyists are?

Cool building, by the way.

The thing is that I read quite a few alt energy mags and every article pertaining to America or Germany is always the same.

Article about Germany: We have plans to have such and such done by 2020. Since we are WAY ahead of schedule, we're implementing such and such to Whereverberg too. The services to these bergs will be fixed rate for at least 20 yrs of service.

Article about America: (Showing a politician in front of a bunch of blue collar workers at their factory) We plan to introduce to Congress in the next 5 years, a plan that will pump sunshine up your bum by 2050. In order for this to happen, we need bipartisan leadership to step up and pass these programs as soon as possible.

VERY SAD INDEED!!!!!!!!!!!

Germans have always been ahead on technology. Most of it has come from them, and even a lot of American technological leaps have been by German Americans. Germans in general are more industrious by 'nature'. It should be no surprise.

Not to mention our wonderful political system. Not to say Germany's political system is without problems, but they do a much better job in the department of "Get On With It"
