Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal announced the state will commit $50-million to bring the center to the area. This makes the total $100-million going toward the center, with the other $50-million coming from Bossier City.

...

Governor Jindal says should the center be built in Bossier City, he expects it to bring more than 10,000 civilian jobs. He expects more jobs to come along from major corporations.

"I had a meeting with some of the senior folks from companies like Dell, Intel, Microsoft, Apple, companies that we'd love to have locate here. They're all extremely interested in being here because of the cyber center," said Governor Jindal.

Senator Mary Landrieu says it looks like it's going to happen. So now, everyone is waiting on the official word the center to start building the center.

Saying cementing Louisiana’s place in the cyber future is one of his top priorities, Gov. Bobby Jindal today pledged a special session of the Legislature to spend the state’s surplus, with its promise of $50 million to the Cyber Innovation Center topping his list.

“We’re going to have a second special session to spend the state surplus,” Jindal said at the Center’s groundbreaking. “The first 50 million we’ll spend out of that surplus, my commitment to you, will be for the Cyber Command, right here.

If our going to spend the surplus, then spend it on things like this.

A quick Google check shows interest in the project from a number of communities from Virginia to California. The temporary center is at Barksdale. Hopefully that fact and the financial incentives are enough to get the permanent center there. Test number one for the new gov.

I thought that after Barksdale was selected as the temp facility making it the permanent facility was a formality?

Gov. Bobby Jindal will meet with the secretary of the U.S. Air Force today at the Pentagon.

Jindal plans to talk to U.S. Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne about the permanent
location for a cyberspace command center, said Melissa Sellers, the governor’s press
secretary.

Louisiana is one of a number of states trying to land the project. Jindal recently
committed $50 million for infrastructure.

Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City is the temporary home for U.S. Air Force
Cyber Command, making state officials hopeful that Louisiana will be the center’s
permanent location.
