Grantham tidbit this morning.. (1 Viewer)

It's a money issue. Currently Grantham makes 850k which is more than Carmichael makes. They are selling the fact that he can get back in the NFL under SP's tree. The Ryan news served three purposes.

1. Smokescreen
2. To let Grantham know there is competition
3. Throw egg on ESPN and As!

Anyway that is what the janitor is saying.

OK, I'll bite....Are you throwing out the "that's what the janitor is saying" line to imply that you have inside info or are you just throwing out your opinion?

I wouldn't say inside info, it didn't come from ML or SP. However, the details above are known by many. SP has a ton of respect for Romeo and absolutely loves Grantham.

Who knows though? They might not be able to sell it and go with one of the other candidates.

With Seattle paying their DC (from gators) nearly $2 million how would he sell grantham on less than $1 million?

As of September 2011, Houston Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is the highest-paid defensive coordinator earning approximately $700,000 yearly under a three-year, $2.1 million deal.

The article adds that the average NFL defensive coordinator salary is approximately $850,000 compared to $800,000 for offensive coordinators. However, as seen by Philips' salary, the salary ranges are a bit higher and may be indicative of a decrease in salaries for the position.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Just random google searches. The NFL is a very enticing for someone who has been there and aspires to be more.

Interesting...

Dan Quinn who just went from the University of Florida to Seattle got $1.9M per year so that is probably what Grantham wants. Link

The radio guys here in Atlanta were discussing (yesterday) how Grantham was a leverage play to get Ryan to sign a lesser contract. They supposedly had info that Grantham was coming to interview just to rush Ryan into signing a contract for less than his demands. They said that Payton will be surprised to find out Grantham's asking price ($1.9M) and when he did he would sign Ryan because the coin would be similar.

Pure speculation by media. Ryan has no leverage. There are no other openings for him to leverage us against.

So from your POV we are using Rob as leverage against Grantham...still implying that Grantham has been our target all along.

Interesting.

I think its possible. Like i said Grantham turned down the eagles...and clearly in a manner that let the eagle know that he was not interested because they completely pulled him off the list. Then he interviews here..which is telling.

It also fits in that Grantham was one guy that Payton could have had contact with while on suspension...or atleast ran the idea by.

Well, I guess ML and SP couldn't make the sale. On to plan B!
