Amen. No pun intended. Karen carpenter has the best voice. But olivia comes in second. She is also more beautiful. I actually got to see her in concert. It was so good
Karen Carpenter is smooth velvet to me. I wish she could have been happy. Like I said, I like Olivia but don't really put her up there in terms of voice. Not sure why.

Wow. I did not know that. Remember songs like born to hand jive, and all the other great songs in grease by sh na na. God what a great movie.
My first experience with Sha Na Na was their variety show. I still cannot reconcile that with knowing they were at Woodstock. WOODSTOCK!

lol, no. Just that he seemed so goofy, like how could you take him seriously.

It can happen. When you shooting down the slopes, caution is thrown to the wind, when your in your zone. I had a few close calls already. Thankfully, it wasn't my time to spend a few nights at the hospital.

Today you learned something. The original lead singer of Sha Na Na was a man named Robert Leonard. He's considered by many to have the highest IQ ever among musicians.

You also mentioned Brian May from Queen. He's not that far behind. He has a masters degree in physics.

I know.

Yes. It was a pretty good movie. I can't remember the name of the main actor but he was the star of warriors.
Michael Beck.

Knew it without looking but checked IMDB to see where he's been. I never knew he went to Millsaps!

No it isn't a chick flick. I enjoyed the movie as well. Sha na na had an important role in the movie as well. They were the opening act for the final day at Woodstock which was closed by Jimi Hendrix. The group was started by students from Columbia university. They weren't egg heads by any stretch of the imagination.

It’s been a while since ive seen Grease, but what part of the movie featured Sha Na Na?

Yes, in the sense that they were well known before Madonna came around. Buy their target audiences and musical styles were wildly different. Streisand has an incredible voice, but her musical style puts me to sleep. I like some of Cher's stuff, but never really got into her broader body of work. I like Madonna's groovy, dance mix and she sings some solid ballads. I like that she's experimented with a number of different musical styles. Barbara's voice far exceeds Madonna’s, but Madonna's stage presence and entertainment factor is much batter than those two. But that's somewhat subjective too. Just how I see it from where I sit.

I‘m going to say that the only rival Madonna has in re to being an icon is Streisand... and i would put Streisand at #1... I wasnt around in the 60s, and barely remember the 70s- but IMO Streisand was to those decades what madonna was to the 80s.. Just in terms of pure longevity, Streisand has been a public figure for almost 60 YEARS... AND her voice, i e her pure talent- blows the Ciccone girl out of the water... Cher’s in the converation as well, in terms of longevity- but she is more like Madonna in that her voice is nothing special, and she is a shameless self promoter (nothing wrong with that.)

i wasnt familiar with him.. the lead singer I remember is Jon ‘Bowser’ Bauman ... incidentally, there is a show on Game Show network or the like that i sometimes see called the Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour, from the early 1980s, that i swear the producers had to be on acid to come up with .. its co-hosted by Bowser and Gene Rayburn.. halfway thru the show, the set changes from Match Game to Hollywood Squares, they bring on new D list celebrities, and the host changes from Bowser to Rayburn, then the other one goes and sits on the panel.. every time i see it, I’m half asleep and feel like it’s a dream.. but it’s not !
