I‘m going to say that the only rival Madonna has in re to being an icon is Streisand... and i would put Streisand at #1... I wasnt around in the 60s, and barely remember the 70s- but IMO Streisand was to those decades what madonna was to the 80s.. Just in terms of pure longevity, Streisand has been a public figure for almost 60 YEARS... AND her voice, i e her pure talent- blows the Ciccone girl out of the water... Cher’s in the converation as well, in terms of longevity- but she is more like Madonna in that her voice is nothing special, and she is a shameless self promoter (nothing wrong with that.)
Do you know where she got her start..just as Stallone did...porn

Barbara had a great voice but she was no Karen or Olivia

It’s been a while since ive seen Grease, but what part of the movie featured Sha Na Na?
They were the band that played at the prom. In Rl, they were very bright men. The African American Was known as Denny. After he retired from the TV show,he became a law professor. Why i remember this, I do not know

My first experience with Sha Na Na was their variety show. I still cannot reconcile that with knowing they were at Woodstock. WOODSTOCK!
Can you imagine saying I opened for Hendrix at Woodatock.I later graduated from Yale and teach constitutional law? That's a hell of a life's resume.

I honestly dont think i ever knew that was Sha na na.. maybe becuase I’m more familiar with their ‘greaser’ incarnation that seemed to be more popular in the early 80s, whereas Grease was filmed in ‘77.

Today you learned something. The original lead singer of Sha Na Na was a man named Robert Leonard. He's considered by many to have the highest IQ ever among musicians.

You also mentioned Brian May from Queen. He's not that far behind. He has a masters degree in physics.

That’s an amazing story
I’d always heard David Lee Roth had the highest IQ
But it’s hard to match this story

Leonard is a genius. That's for sure. After he retired from Sha Na Na, The FBI asked him to help solve crimes using his skills in forensic linguistics. He's up there in the level of highest Iq's

How many bands have members with PHD's ? Sha Na Na has two. That's incredible when you think about it .

Mr mom is the greatest movie of all time. Are you serious. Yes it was a great movie but nowhere near the greatest of all time. Lol. Lost and found was funnier than that.

The best musical ever was Heavy Metal :hihi:

Not really a fan of the genre as a whole. I don't get the exaggerated hysteria that grips my family over The Sound of Music. Grease sold me a bill of goods because I thought it was about street racing. What a let down that was. ONJ could have at least got nekkid.
