Great read from Sean Payton (1 Viewer)

Great link, David.

The following Q&A in the story tells me alot of this coaching staff and this team because the previous regime didn't seem like they were able to accomplish this:

Q: Your team did a good job of embracing the national spotlight when you hosted the Falcons here earlier in the year. Will you have a similar approach?

Sean Payton: "Hey that week was ...when you say we embraced it, we said 'no' to all the special requests and that's what we are doing this week. So I don't know that we embraced it. We won the game and all of a sudden it became a big story. We're trying to focus on this game this weekend. The other things that take place outside of the task or the game at hand, we can't control. You have to have enough balance and take a look at the schedule this week as a head coach and say 'let's make sure that we are doing the right thing with the media requests, let's make sure we are doing the right things with practice and doing what is right' and not doing more or less. That's the approach we took that week with Atlanta. We weren't going to be able to change the outside focus on that game, nor were we trying to. But what we tried to do was bring the focus in-house on our team and on our practices. We tried to put a few good practices together and then we went to the dome to have that Friday night practice because we thought it was important to get used to the surface. Our approach this week, as best we can, will be to make it 'business as usual' again. It will be another week of practice and preparation for a really good team and we'll prepare and stay on the same routine as what we have been going through and try to minimize the outside distractions that may be taking place, because it is now a game between two 8-4 teams and a game that is now on Sunday Night. Those are the things that have come up because of the records of both teams. But those are good problems to have, certainly it's better to hear than getting moved to the 12:00 slot."

He really expounds on his answers and it isn't double talk either. There seems to be a lot of substance.

I have noticed this for weeks, I really enjoy listing to his press conferences and then reading them closely afterwards.

He is a very composed man.. Enjoyed the read.

Thanks for the terrific read. The more I read of Payton the more I realize just how blessed it is to have him as our coach.

Now, go beat them Cowboys!

The guys on Opening Drive (Sirius NFL Radio) love him and comment on this often. It's SO nice to have a straight shooter at HC.

wow.. what a great read. The more I read from him and see his play calling, the more I love having him as our coach.
