Greatest male vocalist ever thread (1 Viewer)

George Michael is not getting enough love.
When Freddy died and they did the tribute, Michael was the only one who had the range to pull Somebody To Love.

There's also something to say about genres, and even languages.

My choices are based simply on the technical ability of singing. Range, control, subtlety, tone, etc all are the criteria for my choices. Buckley is a solid #3 on the list and one l ft off the list far too often.

If thats your criteria, you are going to have to exclude opera/choral singers. Sorry, as great as Freddy was, he doesn't hold up to Pavorotti, along with a few other opera singers, in pure vocal ability.

A few names overlooked:

Smokey Robinson
Axl Rose
(the material often hid his ability, but also sometimes revealed it and blew listeners away)
Solomon Burke (early soul pioneer)
Brad Delp of the rock band Boston
Nat King Cole
Peter Cetera
of Chicago
Joe Pizzulo (sang with Sergio Mendes in the 1980s)
Greg Lake, Emerson Lake & Palmer
Russell Hitchcock, Air Supply
Bobby Hatfield, The Righteous Brothers
Paul Robeson, Broadway & show tunes from around 1925-1960. Perhaps America's greatest ever baritone.

I'm talking about real vocalists, not opera singers.
