The New York Jets are finalizing a contract with former Cleveland Brownsinterim coach Gregg Williams to be their defensive coordinator, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday.
Williams becomes the first big hire for new head coach Adam Gase, who was formally introduced on Monday. The Jets targeted Williams at the start of their head-coaching search but Gase was on board with the hiring, Schefter reported.
Williams, 60, became available when he wasn't re-hired by the Browns, despite a 5-3 record after replacing Hue Jackson at midseason.

He will never be a NFL head coach again. He is an old damaged good. Karma.

I wonder if Gase is gonna bring Joe Vitt? Vitt is Gase's father in law, I think after vitt got fired he went to Miami with Gase. It would be interesting to see Vitt and Williams together again. Maybe there isn't as much bad blodd between the bounty gate players as thought?

Jamal Adams will be the best Safety in football in that system.
