What was that? Correct me if I'm wrong, but this was following the1st and 30 shenanigans, we pick up the first there, break their will, milk the clock and maybe kick a FG to go up 8 if all else fails. Instead we try to make them jump and take a delay of game.

That was the most cowardly chicken sheet coaching I have ever seen. It's like they wanted to lose the game. If you can't pick up a yard against the PANTHERS, you don't deserve to win the game.

Playing not to lose makes you lose.

DA encapsulated.

You could have put Hill in that play. But no, somebody wants to try to draw the Panthers defense offside.

There were so many horrible things about this game, but I am glad this was also mentioned. And what was even worse, even if you are stupid enough to call a play to try drawing them offside before punting, they still should have had Hill in the game. Then, they might have had some reason to believe the ball would be hiked. They can't even run a stupid play without making it even stupider.

On the flip side (of such a negative), the fake punt was a thing of beauty with the way they scrunched up and made the return team think it was going to be a direct snap to Taysom, only to have Hayball run free wide left.

Agreed. When you get that close to a first down after facing a 1st and 30, it’s basically like the football gods have willed you into a fourth down try that you must take.

We do so much abnormal stuff these days.

It’s a stereotypical defensive head coach mindset. Never take risks or have an aggressive mindset offensively that could end up putting your defense in a bad situation. He was scared. Or only did he say he doesn’t trust the offense to get a yard, but he doesn’t trust his defense to stop them if they don’t make it.

In my opinion, what made Belicheck so good was he was a great defensive mind that let Brady be aggressive and seal games over and over. With rules today it’s so hard on defenses to finish games. Offenses with any time left and a chance to win generally do it. We got Taysom Hill and Alvin freakin Kamara who both got yards at will today, and we punt.
