“Happy Birthday” to our franchise, which was awarded to the Crescent City on ALL SAINTS DAY (Nov 1st) 1966!

It was awarded one year before the first season in ‘67. Team colors of black & gold were chosen because the first owner (John Mecum) was an oil tycoon... and oil was known as “black gold.”

I’m an old fart, and I remember when it happened!

They were awarded the franchise on my birthday month. And their first season was my birth year. That's why I love wearing Saints gear that has the 1967 or '67 logo on it

I was (Lucky) 13 years old when I watch John Gilliam run the First Ever Saints KO Return for a TD and I **knew** the Saints were gonna be GOOD!
