Have we ever had more interesting/versatile/playmaking players on our defense? (1 Viewer)

If we stay healthy, we arguably have as much talent on defense as we have ever had. But this defense will never be as dominant as the best Dome Patrol defenses. As a coordinator, Dennis Allen is average and is not nearly the coach that Steve Sidwell was. But keep in mind I think Rickey Jackson was clearly a better linebacker than Ray Lewis, whose celebrity in part was based on his having played on a championship team and his public image.

In the middle, we once had not only Mills but also the most underrated defensive player in the history of the Saints, Vaughn Johnson.

I find the recent 2007 bump thread quite funny. At the time, the only player that anyone thought was any good was Mike McKenzie. LOL Mike McKenzie? He would probably be our #3-4 CB on our team. This team is just infinitely more talented than that time. And what's even more hysterical is that little did we know that 2007 actually wasn't THAT bad...we got to see just how bad bad can be in 2012-2014.
