I'm looking into buying an HDTV. Not sure if i want LCD or Plasma

Anybody have one that can comment? I really want to keep the cost around $1000

What size could I get for that price and where can I find the best deals?

Also what brands are better quality?

Get a Vizio. I've got a 32'', and I love it.

I have a 37" Vizio with the HDTuner built in and I have been pretty happy with it. No cable; All over the air channels.

I would like to upgrade the OTA antenna, but don't really know of a good one...

I wouldn't recommend plasma. Stick with LCD.

I got a 32" Samsung LCD last year for just < $1000 at amazon.com. It took about 2-3 weeks to be delivered, but the price beat Circuit City and Best Buy by about $200-300. Great set.

Do your research and be sure to read the online reviews.

Vizio is cheap but near the bottom as far as quality of picture goes.

I'd recommend getting the Consumer Reports latest special edition on HDTVs, you can probably find a used copy on eBay.

Yeah the Vizio picture is not nearly as good as most of the top names. Their contrast rate is usually 1,000-1 compared to Sony, Samsung or LG who have them usually between 7,500-1 and 10,000-1. Just do some research.

I just got a 40' Sony Bravia LCD 1080p for $1100 at Circuit City....Love it!

Vizio 37 inch. Love it. They have two models of the same TV. Get the one with the higher contrast ratio. That's what you look for in any HDTV. For $600, it can't be beat.

i heard that if the room is well lit get an lcd. if its not get a plasma. but then again the smallest plasma you can buy is a 42" and i think that would be over $1000 if im not mistaken. so id say get the lcd. thats what i have, and its very nice.
