So the new iPhone 7 will not feature a headphone jack. It sounds like a fairly mundane and old tech problem. But I think for those who use headphones sourced from your phone, it's a very legitimate discussion.

If you don't use headphones with your phone (for music, audio, or calls) you probably don't really give a crap. In fact, not having the jack makes the phone slimmer and makes more hardware space available to beef up the camera, battery, etc. . . . and that's what Apple is arguing. But I'm sure there's a percentage of the consumer that really does use this function daily or at least very often (working out, commuting on public transportation, studying, working out, etc.). How is this going to shake out? I think it depends on the headphone experience.

I use my phone almost daily to listen to music on headphones. I have an expensive set of Bose wireless headphones that sound great, but I rarely use them. They require battery charging and I find that over time, they give off some heat and I don't like how my ears get warm. I'm also not entirely comfortable with streaming music wirelessly so close to my brain for hours a week (perhaps it's not an issue but do we really know that? I'm not sure).

So the vast majority of the time, I'm using basic Sony wired ear-buds. I suppose that if I have no option because the headphone jack is gone, I will either use wireless or perhaps just not listen as much. How about you?

Now you have to use Apple Pay instead of a 3rd party.

What about use in the car? I have an older car that I just bought (2007 Acura TL) that has an aux port, but no way to listen to music via bluetooth. Granted, I have a Samsung, but my wife will be getting the iPhone 7.

apple will gladly sell you the headphone jack to lightning adapter for 39.99

For $10 you can buy a Bluetooth receiver to plug into jack.

Every phone will ship with an adapter.

Honestly, I could go either way, but I ask the board this. I have a pair of skull candy plug in headphones and a set of Otium Wireless headphones. The quality on the SKs is much better than the Wireless headphones, but the Otiums are some of the better ones on the market. Is this normal for the sound to be of poor quality on Wireless?

Yes, music over bluetooth gets compressed (again, usually) and the quality suffers. In the car, you usually wouldn't notice.

I don't like wireless earbuds because one way or another, you are carrying a battery on your ears, and I notice the weight.

Also, playing Pokemon Go often requires earbuds and charging simultaneously. What are they going to do about that?

i'll probably buy a samsung next...

i have the Active S7. ( came from HTC One M8+)

im somewhat disappointed in the volume. Its low. Ive messed with every available setting and its not nearly as good as my previous phone.

Ive encountered several other issues with SMS and syncing to the Gear 2 ( ATT said their sync center had issues-). If i sync with Gear, you call my cell, tells you im not accepting calls at this time. ATT has NO IDEA when this will get resolved.

Shoulda took the VR glasses instead of the Gear2.

also trying to get used to the placement of the buttons- opposite from my HTC.

Its a good phone, waterproof ( worked well Sunday leaving Dome in rain ) - little bulky due to it comes in own "case". Just gotta get used to it i guess.

I believe we are a long long way from being able to get away from the jack. I do like wireless headphones and have a couple pair. But depending on what I am doing, I sometimes prefer a lightweight pair with a wire down the inside of my shirt. I will wear them longer when I am walking, listening to books, etc...

and since you asked, the taco headphone pouch looks useless.

I use the below method and after you have done it a couple of times, it is really fast and I never have tangled wires. I use it for chargers, computer cables and extension cords as well.
