Heavy Rain (1 Viewer)

according to an email, the demo is up on the PSN

I played the demo and really liked it. The fight scene when playing as the detective was well done. I like the fact that if you miss 1 or 2 of the buttons you still have a chance to "win". I hate going through so many button sequences and because you didn't get one right the whole thing fails. Just my opinion though.

The fight scene was well done and wasn't something that was over in 2 or 3 button hits. It's way more varied than "press x now". You have to use just about every button the PS3 controller, and even shake it around sometimes.

Playing as the FBI agent with his sunglasses had a similar detective mode like the one in Arkham Asylum.

I think this game is going to be really good even if some people want to call it an "interactive movie"

Yeah, I played the demo and I fell in the "interactive movie" camp of people. I just can't see paying 60 bucks for this choose your own adventure story. I'm not sure what the innovation is here. The button sequence has been done. The whole walking mechanic makes no sense. It is almost like it was thrown in just to be different. The stick slides to interact just take the place of pressing a button to interact/talk/observe things. The hearing thoughts mechanic seems cumbersome. Who isn't going to choose all the options that are presented? I don't see why it just wasn't presented without hitting the button. I found myself hitting the button every few steps just to see if he was thinking about something. The story seems interesting. The graphics were really good. However, it was the first time that I shook my remote. Was hoping for something more than an amalgamtion of button chaning and

reviews seem to be pretty good. If I did that gamefly thing, I'd probably rent this one. I still have a hard time figuring how this game is fun, but it seems to be well received.

I can't imagine there is much replay value to it.

from what i have read, the replay value comes with making different choices throughout the game....ten of us could play it and come out with different things happening.....and the endings would be different

There are supposedly around 20 or so different endings, but realistically it has to be around 8 UNIQUE endings that aren't just minor changes. (keeping all 4 characters alive and all 4 dying)

I'm interested in seeing how much a lot of the smaller choices affect the outcome of the game. Like in the demo when playing as the detective, maybe if you leave without leaving your card on the table she won't call you with something she remembered later on. Little things like that.
