help with asthma? (2 Viewers)

Be careful with this and primatene, they are both ephedrine. I would do whatever I could to see a doctor instead of taking these things. They are pretty nasty.

Yep, it was more of an emergency thing to hold me over until I could see the doctor.

what kind of medicine are you one? my dr visit is on thursday morning but i have no clue what im gonna be prescribed. probably just an inhaler hunh?

I take Singulair at night, Advair in the morning, and have a ventolin rescue inhaler. (I personally prefer the Ventolin over the Albuterol HFA)

My ex hardly ever had trouble with asthma until she got a job being around decorative dried flower and branch cuttings, the eucalyptus branches and leaves would get her everytime.

That's the same stuff, Albuterol is the generic form of Ventolin.....

You may find relief using eucalyptus oil as an alternative medicine until you get to the doctor. Just put a drop or two on a napkin and keep it near your face when you feel the constriction. It is especially affective if you use it with steam. You can also sleep with the napkin under your pillow or near your head at night.

Nothing clears up my sinuses
..quite like Absorbine Jr.

Call your doctor's office and tell them you need to come in immediately to get a breathing treatment. If they can't fit you in you need to go to a clinic or even the emergency room to get a breathing treatment before your asthma gets worse.

If you didn't take Dave's advice 6 hours ago, then I don't know what to tell you anymore.

This may not be the popular advice, but hear me out.

A friend of mine was joining the corps with me (buddy program). Our recruiter told him the best advice of his life. Push it. Run and run and run. Work out. Push your body to get used to it, and push through the pain. Granted, it's EXTREMELY advised to still have some form of inhaler / support / etc.

My friend and I went through 3 tours together and he didn't have one outbreak that I know of. The only people that know are our recruiter, me and him.

Long term fix, takes a decent amount of time.

Since you haven't had a problem in an eternity, I don't picture this being hugely difficult for you to achieve.

yeah, not a good idea, this could result in DEATH

Whatever you do, definitely seek professional advice.

Call your Doc and get the apt moved up.....He needs to get you on a long term bronchodialator, like Advair, for maintenance therapy, maybe a steroid. He also needs to put you on a fast acting drugs like Albuterol, or Xopenex....

Don't mess around with it.....

My family doc thinks I have developed asthma, or may have had it already, and its not manifesting itself more. She gave me Advair and Ventolin too. Adviar makes it worse, as did some other inhaler she gave me. I think shes wrong in her diagnosis. Anyway, I stopped taking the Advair. All it ever does it tighten my lungs and make me cough up crap. The Ventolin on the other hand..... :9:

Contrary to some folks, too, working out seems to open my lungs up.

It is... sorta.

I used to take the Albuterol, but when they changed over to the HFA I almost ended up in the hospital because it was almost completely ineffective. I had to be switched to the Ventolin.
