Gives me that funny, familiar, queasy feeling in the pit of my stomach! Thanks, Houston. :)

Not too shabby. Those frenchies slung those Pumas around pretty good. NOE flying can be fun...just watch out for eagles,gulls, and pelicans.

I'm sure everyone is familiar with the inspirational poem "High Flight," which is dedicated to fixed-wing pilots who reached out and "touched the face of God."

Did you know that rotor-winged folks have their own version?

LOW FLIGHT
Dedicated to all Helicopter pilots

Oh, I've slipped the surely bonds of earth
And hovered out of ground effect on semi-rigid blades;
Earthward I've auto'ed and met the rising brush of
Non-paved terrain;
And done a thousand things you would never care to
Skidded and dropped and flared
Low in the heat soaked roar.
Confined there, I've chased the earthbound traffic
And lost the race to insignificant
Headwinds;
Forward and up a little in ground effect
I've topped the General's hedge with drooping turns
Where never Skyhawk or even Phantom flew.
Shaking and pulling collective, I've lumbered
The low untresspassed halls of victor airways,
Put out my hand and touched..............a tree.

"victor airways" - Marine slang for fixed-wingers.

All Marine fixed-winged squadrons are designated with the letter "V" such as VMF-232 "Red Devils."

Whereas, helicopter squadrons are designated with an "H" such as HMH-362 "Ugly Angels."
