[Highlight] Deonte Harris Takes It To The House on 78yd Punt Return (1 Viewer)

That burst was a thing of beauty.

When he fumble the ball on the kickoff return.. He turned around so quick and was able to still pick up a few yards from the spot if the fumble.. I was like dang. He is fast..

Thx for the vid!!!

There's been a bunch of you Who Dats who have been singing this kid's praise all camp. I wasn't putting a lot into his preseason performance but after that return, all of you who have been singing this kid's praise get my personal bow. He is special. The way he glides across the field and his instant forward acceleration is "WoW!" Thanks also to all you early believers in this guy.

Call dibs on nickname.

Deonte "The Flash" Harris
Deonte "Not that..." Harris

Ugh. bye Sherels?

Is me,or have almost all the former Vike players we've brought in seem to have disappeared? I guess Murray was worth it but Easton, Sherels & Bridgewater have all been out performed.

Easton is our new Kelemete lineman. He was brought in to compete with Tom for the vacant center job, but a blue chip center fell to us in the draft. Easton will likely be the 6th OL and maybe tackle-eligible. I think he will be very important our offense's success this season.

Bridgewater is still our backup QB.

Sherels has been out injured, so I guess that counts as disappearing.

Just about the best most informative post I have seen on this site. The other aspect of it is that there wer zero blocking in the back issues. It is as if Rizzi told them this return was going to be penalty free regardless.
How would you assess Deonte overall? Is he that good or we over hyping him. I was super impressed he knew to out run the punter. He has been there before and did not waste any time juking him.
Comments please.

Honestly, it's a small sample size (just 3 preseason games) but he looks like the real deal, and I think he has the potential to be one of the better overall return specialists the Saints have had in a while. He's obviously an explosive player with the ball in his hands but he also has dynamic reaction skills, and so far he is making pretty good decisions and not taking unnecessary risks trying to force the big play. That level of maturity and mental focus can be difficult to find in young returners. He obviously spent a lot of time doing it in college and by the looks of things actually had some pretty good coaching when it comes to special teams. For a rookie, he understands the return game very well, as the housecall vs. the Jets demonstrated, but also on some of his kick returns I liked how he pressed opposite to set up the Saints' blocking angles and affect the lanes of the coverage team.

Again, he's a dynamic athlete, but I think it's the efficiency and patience he brings--that ability to get the Saints consistently good field position--that is maybe a bit undervalued but what I really like about him. There is still a lot of growth that needs to be made, but outside of Alvin Kamara I don't think we have an equal returner on the roster (and haven't in a few years), and Kamara is too valuable to the offense to use back there regularly.

Great analysis TCUDan. Thanks for putting the time and effort into it. How have things been going for you? BDM

Everything's been going good brother, thanks for asking. Happy to have a little more time to get on here and chop up some Saints football.

That poor punter. He actually had a good line on Harris until about a three step burst left him grasping back of the pants' legs.

You could see Harris slow for a split second before he decided the Jets deserved the jets, not the wiggle.

Bridgewater came from the Jets. And Murray will be fine. The board spent years saying Ingram was being out-performed, too. I trust in Loomis.

Perfect point on the last two guys, though.
