Guys,
It's coming upon Thanksgiving and I wanted to try another pumpkin spice ale.

I've tried two different recipes and neither turned out well. The first one was a brown ale and I added two cans of spiced pumpkin pie mix and a teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice. It came out very cloudy and bitter.

Second attempt was a kit from a homebrew store. It was an amber ale but it didn't have much of a spice taste. Just tasted dry.

Anyway, I'm looking for an extract recipe. Anyone have a good one?

Stay away from clove. Takes over a beer like nothing else. Some pumpkin based beers put that crap in there. Cinnamon, pumpkin and brown sugar are a decent base.

Make a beer you like then bake a pumpkin pie to go eat while you drink it.

Thanks buddy. How much of a spice taste was there and what color beer did it turn out to be?
