How bad can Ken Crawly really be? (1 Viewer)

Really really bad. Like they would throw his way every time bad. Like burnt toast bad. That's how bad he can be. His biggest problem is consistency and then penalties.

He's on the team for this purpose right now. He's no longer starter material, but a decent reserve player. He may find his game again and surprise us. Did anyone expect PJ Williams would have played the slot as well as he has this season? Crawley is a big step down from Apple and will get picked on, but he won't kill us.

Does anyone have a legit update on Apple? We're not even sure what the prognosis is yet, and everybody is thinking he is "fine", but would like more explanation than that

Crawley played well in 2017, but really regressed last year. I'm sure he'll be activated if Apple cannot go and will see some playing time. Question is who will start at the other CB? Will it be Justin Hardee?

In 2016, Crawley was an Undrafted Free Agent Signing. That first year he played he was our arguably our 4th best corner back on the roster behind: Delvin Breaux, B.W. Webb, and Sterling Moore. In 2017, he started most of the year but as other's have stated he was notorious for being hit or miss and for giving up the big plays at the least opportune times. It's important to note that in 2017 P.J. Williams started to come on. In 2018, he started the season as the starter across from Lattimoore and was eventually replaced with Eli Apple. When he was bumped from his starting position in 2018 he fell down the depth chart and really hasn't played a whole lot since. He gave up some pretty awful plays in the first few games of last seasons before we traded for Apple.

With Arizona having the 25th worst defense against both the Rush and Pass and with the Saints having a arguably significantly improved pass rush this year over last I think KC can be serviceable for the Ariz game across from ML.

As other's have said DA may need to bracket his side of the field and put ML on an island with ARI best reciever but we've done that a lot this year already so that isn't new.

Crawley is purely confidence issues. When he was playing confident in 2017, he was really good, like making everyone's top 32 corners good. He wasn't as good as Lattimore, but he was without question a high tier starting CB, then he lost his confidence and has been just awful ever since. That said, it does say something that the coaches are putting him in the final 53. I think this season will be his last in New Orleans unless he steps up this season. Their patience has to be at the end of the line for him, it is nut up or shut up time for Crawley.

Agree with this. He is always close to his man. He watches his hands, and doesn't look back for the ball. If he mistimes his defense of the incoming ball, it's PI every time. If he looks back for the ball too early, he's afraid he may lose a step on the WR, so he gambles with playing the ball unseen.
