How bout Sir Charles and Big Will's play lately !!? (1 Viewer)

..I don't have Tivo or anything like that, only get to watch the games once on Sunday, but man in every replay tidbit i've seen of the Jets game Charles Grant is getting madd penetration and looks quick as hell off the snap....he looks like a beast, the CG we used to know his first couple seasons. And you all remember when he was playing well there was no one else on D that could get the Superdome fired up between plays like CG....glad to have ya back Big Dawg.......where the hell did ya go ???

I think everybody fails to realize that they are healthy. This, IMO, has just as much to do with their improved play as the scheme does. Add in the improved CB play and the confidence the guys are playing with, as long as they stay healthy, I see no reason why they cant feast on QBs the remainder of the season. If we can generate pressure and stop the run with our front 4 that will improve our pass coverage and allow actual blitzes to be more successful.<O:p</O:p

Agreed. Grant was all over the field in the first preseason game against Cincy up until he pulled his hamstring. It has taken about a month to hearl, but now we are seeing him fully healthy for the first time in about two years.

It definitely seems like the whole defense is out there having fun.

If S&G are for real, I'm happy as a clam. But I'm wondering about gg having to "call them out" for the Jets game. If that' s all it takes, why not call them out every week? :hihi:

He called them out two weeks ago, for the Bills game

It's been gravy ever since. I guess he threatened to replace them with McCray & Charleston?

I am particularly surprised in how Grant is playing. I knew that Will Smith had the ability to make plays, but i was pretty down on Grant. He just looked overweight and kind of sloppy, but he seems to be playing pretty well.

As if they needed any more motivation than to escape a 4 game suspension. That right there should be plenty of motivation to get your ***** in gear and start playing. I don't know if the decision is totally over with, but if its not then that is just more motivation to play as hard as you can while you can.

And Sed has been playing well too and the emergence of him is just going to make the DE's just that much better. And when you throw in that other teams are playing from behind they can just pin their ears back and get after it.

are you some sort of closet saints fan or something?

do you spend as much time on the falcon forums??

just curious.

:hihi:..well they were both actually part of the circus of candidates for the election for Governor of California that the Governator ended up winning. A porn star and the (not so) cute lil guy.

...seems that they took it seriously when Coach Payton called them out. They've been playing with authority so far this season. Our whole D-line for that matter. I'm still waiting for a BIG play from Hargrove, but they're all playing lights out. I'm goin to New Orleans for the Giants game, and i'll do my part !!!!! WHO COOKS UP DA FUMBALAYA NEXT WEEK !!?? MCCray perhaps, Big Sed ?? Amazing how Greg Williams got these guys back in top form.....ok not necessarily visually, but productively !!!:ezbill:

Got to give them credit where it is due. They have been tearing it up. I have ripped them a lot for the last two years but this year is different. Maybe it is how they are being used. Kampman on the Packers has seemed to be a non-factor since he has only 15 tackles and 1 sack yet he is really good.

I believe their lack of play was due to Gibbs's system. They always took a wide contain route to the QB. I never saw a stunt or just a bull rush in his system. Now that they are in an agressive system they are back in their element and will show a much better product on the field

False. The Vikings had more success using only 4 against Green Bay than when they blitzed (go figure that one out). The great defenses are the ones who can generate pressure without blitzing, and then become complete nightmares when they do blitz. The Saints are morphing into a great defense, which can only spell doom for the rest of the NFL.

Grant and Smith have without a doubt stepped up their play. They are playing with a new found passion and fire, and I'm loving it.

You obviously don't watch football much. The vikings have the best pass rusher in the game and they never got to Favre because they didn't blitz.

Even the GMen blitzed a ton during their SB run. Watch the games before you make dumb comments like that.

You are calling this guy out for not watching football, then you say that the Vikes pass rush didn't get to Favre? Of course they did not rush their own teammate. Tell me I am missing something here? I think the Vikes got to Rodgers pretty well with a 4 man rush, then again, the Packers O-line is a tradgedy.

Maybe it is just late and we are all tired

Both Smith and Grant are healthy and have stepped up. The key is going to be sustaining the high level of play they've reached the past two games. Grant in particular has had a habit of taking plays off. That won't sit well with GW. He may just the right coordinator to motivate both of those guys to bring their A game on every play.
