How long will butler be out...ACL information (1 Viewer)

Depends on the severity of ACL tear and involvement of other structures. The gold standard for diagnosis of knee joint pathology isn't MRI...it's a scope. But scopes are typically performed in conjunction with a procedure. The Ortho doc scopes the knee, looks around, and fixes things as he goes. It is very possible that Butler also damaged his meniscus or other knee ligaments while tearing his ACL (which was diagnosed by way of MRI and exam). Each has their own rehab time.

Dang it!!!! That really sucks for our Defense, I was really looking forward to seeing Butler break out as a play maker for our new defense!!!!

Yup. Sucks for him more than our saints tho. He was chomping at the bit to really show what he could do. We'll be ok without his services tho. Would have been exciting to see him in action but now we will see some other talent at work.

So based on the 4-6 month time frame he would be back somewhere between October 10th and December 10th.

If he were to go on the PUP list he would not be eligible to return until week 7.
Week 7= bye
Week 8= October 27th
If he isn't ready by then we could leave him on the PUP for 3 more weeks until the week 10 game on November 10th which would put him right at the 5 month mark which is the average time it takes to return from an ACL. Again, any other time of the season and this would have been a guaranteed IR but we may see him play this season. At least it doesn't hurt to carry him on the PUP to see what happens.

Ok, so I have a solution.. Saints will just have to win the Superbowl this year and when they get Butler back year, win it again. Problem solved!
