How Much turnover/devolopment Needed for new Coaching Schemes? (15 Viewers)

Prove it. Show me teams that are spending more time in base as early as last year. Or better yet...show me the data where offenses are spending over 60% of the time in base personnel. My guess is you'll find that 3WR formations are still more prevalent and there isn't a DC in his right mind that would defend 3WR's from a base front.
Here I'll add the link for the class.

I do think the "run" ratio may be increasing but it feels like more QB's taking off on designed or opportunity runs. It also feels like teams are running out of spread sets these days than more traditional formations. I have nothing to back this up, just seems like the NFL is following college ball some in that respect.

PS... I want a QB with wheels. Fine with a pocket passer, but I like it when a QB steals a 5-10 yard run when nobody's open and there's some green grass. We haven't really had much of that in New Orleans other than Taysom. Derek started taking those yards more after he returned from injury. Then he got injured again doing just that... followed by the most ridiculous and unnecessary superman dive in recent memory. I love the way Burrow does this.

I’m not sure if this has been posted before. If I miss it, I apologize

Looking at current team make up and incoming schemes I’m curious of how much turnover/development is needed before it feels we have the right players in the right position?

So offensively, all teams start with Offensive line, so I’ll skip that for now, but I understand if we don’t have Oline we are not going to be good period. With that out of the way, I watch a few cowboys’ games and barely any Eagles game with Moore at Off Coordinator. But it seems most of his success came when having a mobile QB, Dak and Hurtz, a very talented possession receiver Lamb/Cooper and AJ Brown and of course running Game. But in those first 2 positions I was wondering How critical are the mobility of the QB needed in his scheme, and can Olave fill that position?

Defensively I was reading the forum and saw a chart that the new Def though multifront leans more 3-4 base but called nickel more time than not. Besides our inside LB I don’t see many in the current front 7 that, in my opinion, would play well in a 3-4. Really relying on DLine to be strong enough to set the point and allow LB to do their work was not shown last year. They seem to get moved quite easily. Saints were ranked 30th in rushing and were built to play 4-3 which they didn’t do well. I remember Rob Ryan took a year to get his 3-4 going so I feel it’s not going to be a smooth transition.

I will be honest after the Rams miss call, 97% of the NFL I watch is the Saints, I watch almost every Saints game, but usually nothing else. I used to be a big fan of NFL football, but I have been losing interest, so I have very limited knowledge of how these new coaches operate.
Through 10 games last year Dak rushed for a total of 54 yards.

Yeah there's an interesting quote from Ben Johnson that I just read today...supposedly he was sending shots at Jared Goff and the Lions defense last year (likely reading too much into it)

"Listen, super talented... The out of structure, the off schedule, the creation. That's what stands out the most, because that's really the way that this league's going right now," Johnson said about Williams at the 2025 Combine. "It seems like as much as you want to make it pure progression, one-to-two-to-three, there's just too much variety. The pass rush is coming down and to have an athlete like Caleb extend the play and potentially find an explosive down the field, that's what gets me going a little bit. I get excited thinking about that, because I haven't really been around that since I've been in the in the league...
It continues to bode well for Rattler who people have said a negative about him is that he's a 1-2 read and then off-schedule QB. When in reality he's ideal for where the league is going.

I dont think you should get flak, I think we are better then 5-12 only because last year was as bad as I seen the saints in a long time and we still manage to win 5 games through coaching changes, injuries and starting a 5th rookie a handful of games. If anything with Coaching I feel we should see improvement no?
Better coaching probably would've won us an extra game last year. Maybe two. The injuries were the main culprit. Teams don't win often without their QB1. And it's an impossible "ask" to win missing QB1, WR1, WR2, OC1, RB1, and your do it all Joker. Especially when you're also playing without FS1, CB1, and CB2.

Safety, CB, OG, WR and/or TE are "must-adds" this offseason as much as myself and everyone is banging the table for DT and DE. What happens with Chase and Adebo affects this some, but the 4/5 positions listed cannot be special teamers or replacement level players. We weren't just losing last season, we lost ugly as heck in a lot of those games.

This discussion occurred already. Moore has suggested he is not locked i to a particular offensive scheme. He says he will mold the offense to the talent available.
On defense it has been suggested that they may change to a base 3/4. Its anyone’s guess what they will do. Free agency and the draft may have something to do with that decision.

No, thats my way of saying no one who responds to this will have anything concrete to offer, including, you.

How often do posters on fan forums have anything concrete to add? Griping, complaining, wishing, guessing, with some wild takes and some educated speculation sprinkled in. That's pretty much what we do around here.
