So, by NFL law, the deadline for comp pick consideration is tomorrow, April 27 at 3:01pmET

Note this is why most reports about Winston say "expected to". Payton and co. are smart. If we have Jameis sign on the dotted line today, we potentially lose our comp pick that Teddy will net us.

Do not expect us to make the signing official until tomorrow afternoon.

Now, I also won't be surprised if the NFL goes "Well technically yall knew Jameis was coming before April 27" because...you know...the NFL hates us.

Credit Nick for this info by the way

They probably will but I doubt it would affect our 3rd round comp next year anyway. I'm assuming Jameis signs in the 4-8 mil range as most backups. That would cancel out our 6th rounder but not the 3rd from the 21 mil/yr Bridgewater made.

Even so, we traded a 6th next year for a 7th this year (Stevens).
