JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Drew Brees and Cameron Jordan, two of the New Orleans Saints brightest stars, suited up for but did not play in the preseason opener against the Jaguars. Others benefitted from their absence in the Saints’ 24-20 come-from-behind win.
Taysom Hill played most of the second half and had an up-and-down start to his first action as a Saints quarterback, but showed off the tantalizing skill set that has intrigued the Saints since he arrived last September.
Some of the defensive linemen that are firmly on the roster bubble made their case without the two starting bookends on the field. The Saints recorded five sacks in the game, all of which came in the second half.
