Fair question since we would be 2-1, possibly 3-0 if not for special teams.

Do you think we will give up a big return, have a kick blocked or fumble a return? Maybe a back breaking penalty like offsides on 4th and 4 when the Chargers are punting, we havent done that yet this season. How about a penalty on every return? Combination of things?

Kick return for the chargers. A few times the other teams returners have been close. I wish I could keep screwing up at my job and still have it. Must be nice.

With 20 secs left in the game, and the Saints up by 3 after the Chargers made it 27-24 on a FG, Murphy will call fair catch on the kickoff and waive everyone off the ball... ball will roll into endzone, and be recovered by a Charger. Game over, 0-4.

SD botches FG snap and their holder scrambles and hits an old fashioned drop kick for the game winner.

Wasn't there a year when the Chargers statistically had the number 1 offense and defense, but didn't make the playoffs because their special teams was putrid?

Yes.

That and they had the #1 offense (total not scoring) but turned the ball over. The defense was #1 ranked (yardage not scoring) partly because they were always on the short field or didn't even have to take the field because the offense would score, give up a special teams TD then the offense went right back on the field.

They also lost a few very close games. Then they had games where the defense showed up and the offense didn't or the offense showed up and defense didn't. It's like they were a talented version of the Saints. Didn't play as a team.
