Lots of rumors in the past week or so.

Obviously rumors don't necessarily mean it is true, but just wondering how everyone would feel about the hire?

Personally, I would be pretty stoked. I think he is seasoned enough to command a lot of respect from Les and everyone else associated with the offense. To me, the biggest thing I've been hoping for is whoever the new offensive coordinator is, would be someone that Les would trust enough to more or less leave the offense in his hands. With their relationship going back as far as it does, and all of the accomplishments Cameron has had on the NCAA and NFL levels, I just feel like it could potentially solve a lot of our obvious issues.

I also really like what I've heard about his ability to develop talent on the offensive side of the ball, Quarterback especially.

I just really feel like it would be a slam dunk.

Thoughts?

Unless Les is willing to change and release his iron clad death grip of the offense, then it's not going to matter who we hire for an OC.

Les is going to have to prove to me that's he is willing to change before I ever get excited about our offense again. Until then, it's the Chavis show with additional Les Miles recruiting backstories for me.

Obviously. That's why I stated as much.

But assuming he is willing to let go of control of the offense, how do you feel about the potential hire?

I haven't heard a single rumor involving a new OC and that's odd because usually LSU fans start a few about this time of year...

Guess I've been fooled too many times that I can't even bring myself to speculate anymore. Sad, I know. I just have lost complete and total faith in Les Miles ability to ever field an elite offense worthy of a Chavis defense.

Short of Chavis hand-picking the OC and placing Miles in a straight jacket on game-day, I'm pretty sure we're going to see basically exactly what we have always seen on offense up until the day it finally gets him fired years from now.

But Les Miles must be like the ultimate con-artist. I kinda feel sorry for DeSean Smith. Dude is supposed to be an unreal TE with great hands, but Les Miles is just going to go out of his way to avoid throwing to the dude. Thank God for 18 yr old kids' desire to play for the home-school.

I honestly have nobody in particular that I like, I don't even know who is available. I just really dislike Cam Cameron. His offenses in Baltimore were hot garbage, horrible playcalling. I would like our offense to keep the same conservative run-first approach but more 4 and 5 WR sets on obvious passing downs. If it's 3rd and 9, there is no reason to only have 2 WR on the field, that is just giving the opposing defense a strategic advantage before the play even begins.

Honestly, as much heat as LSU's QB's get, our OL and WR have been extremely average groups the last few years. I know Randle was good and our OL dominated everyone outside of Bama in 2011 but that was the weakest year the SEC has had in a few years. Florida was garbage, Arkansas was extremely overrated, and UGA wasn't anything special either. We handled Oregon and West Virginia but wins over non-SEC teams aren't really bragging points in college football right now. Bama, Florida, Georgia, and Texas A&M are the big boys that we have to keep up with and all these teams have great OL play.

I would feel much more comfortable going into this season with Faulk at LT but as it is, I still think we are only a 2 or 3 loss team, leaning more towards 2.

I want an O.C. that has the balls to tell Miles "if you hire me then I control the Offense, I will take your opinions into consideration but if this is my Job and position then I want to be held accountable for my successes and failures." I wish LSU's A.D. would step in and talk to Miles about the offenses woes and backing off. While it's hard to complain about winning games, you look at all the talent we've had on Offense and how they've been wasted over the years; unless it's at RB.
