I just got an email from our CEO stating that EDS has accepted the offer of a buyout from HP.
Yesterday we had reports that HP was in talks to buy EDS but now its confirmed. If you've got EDS stock, congratulations....
At least one guy at Fortune like it, if it is done right...

Personally I like it too. HP's consulting services hasn't been as strong as they would like. I've been contacted by them on several occasions to work for their virtualization consulting groups. There is some duplication but I think most of it is in upper and mid management. I think Program managers are going to be the hardest hit when layoffs come next year. I do feel pretty safe though because my specialty is still pretty rare and I've already made a little bit of a name for myself by completing a huge virtualization project ahead of schedule. They've now got me splitting my time across 5 different projects.
