Really though, I fail to see a good reason why they couldn't continue to be married. A competent genetic screening could tell them if any children would have worse-than-usual odds of hereditary abnormalities.

Unless of course they themselves were just totally squicked by the whole thing.

biologically...this is true. Expensive testing but if they were not from a inbred family the odds of the recessive genes being there are not as high as what people think.

Its all about the recessive genes that HAVE to be present. Twins or any married couple if both are carrying a recessive have a 25% chance of one of their kids have a double recessive which will result in expression of that gene.Only difference is the frequency of the recessive in the population which is typically less than a few percent depending on what it is...long odds but it occurs. Whereas in twins, the population frequency is based only on two people...mom and dad.

In addition...since they are NOT identical twins...they are not genetically equal. So theres a chance of only one of them having a "bad" recessive....25%.

All of this is assuming non sex linked or multiple gene controlled problems which would effect the percentages

/DD and Taurus...had a population genetics test question based on that book.....

The book's supposition is that the early followers of the eugenics movement unknowingly succeeded in producing a genetically perfect, self-healing, nearly immortal man with no recessive genes. His name is Lazarus Long.

With advances in rejuvenation technology, he lived for thousands of years until every human was one of his direct descendents. Then, due to his aversion to incest, he had to clone himself into twin females for companionship.

There's more. Read the book if you're interested.

Many, meany Science Fiction shows and movies have borrowed themes from Time Enough For Love and Heinlin's other Lazarus Long stories.

But nobody has had the guts to turn it or LL's stories into a movie in its own right...yet.

I thought of this scene.

Mod Edit: The Ace Ventura scene where he figures out the woman is a man.

The puking and pouring tubes of toothpaste in his mouth were OK, but it ends with Jim Carey burning his clothes and walking naked into the shower and cringing. A bit too much nudity for the EE Board and the site's family viewing standards. Video removed.
