I was on my way from one appointment to the next and looking forward to one last Taco Cabana meal in TX before heading home and found myself listening to Obama award the Congressional Medal of Honor to one of our fallen heroes in Afghanistan. Listening to the reading of the citation, I found myself welling up and becoming misty. It's not my typical response to anything, but it was so powerful. The curt and short military style reading from a non-professional lady speaker got me as she read the summary of the events.
It made me proud of our military and sad that they've sacrificed so much. It also made me very glad that my younger bro got bounced for injuries sustained in Bosnia so that we didn't have to worry about him for the past 6 years.
The bravery some of those guys display running into enemy fire to save their fellow troops and our fellow Americans is awesome.
Thank you, Sergeant First Class Jared Monti.
