I'm a very avid gamer. I've owned or played every game system made. I loved Tecmo Bowl and John Elway on the NES. Somehow, but not on purpose, I have avoided playing Madden.

I just pre-ordered my copy from Walmart.

I am curious about the average skill level online for multiplayer. Has the control scheme stayed consistent over the years to the point that everyone online is a seasoned expert and I will get slaughtered for a long time? Or does every new release of the game change enough that players have to spend time relearning it?

i think you could pick it up pretty quick. its not too hard. i'd start on rookie just to learn the controls then move up the skill level quick... if not you'll get used to blowing out your opponents like 80-0 and not wanna play the game close/sometimes lose...
