In DC we tried it once. he bobbled it and got blown up and we never tried again. Sometimes when your guy does something like that you go right back to him. That play was there but just wasn't executed perfectly. One and done on that was to me a mistake.

He should have caught that even though he did get popped.

I think the main reason they got away from that is that the running game wasn't doing great and the pass rush wasn't giving Drew much time for the PA to hit anyone deep.

I agree though. It has been one of our best plays all year and it shouldn't be scrapped. Especially against the Giants horrible DB's.

That was the one that got away. I think he would have had 6 right there.

I don't remember the entire play, but when it works, it's usually 6. Dev has great speed and he's rather strong. It's almost an easy 6 when it clicks. I'd like to hear some clicking this weekend.

We did it in the Tampa, San Fran and Dallas game all successfully. Tried it once in Washington and then put it to bed.

That was an absolutely beautiful pass by Brees and perfect route by Devery....after that, well.....Devery drives me insane. At times he looks like the most dangerous receiver in the league, absolutely unstoppable (D. Hall would agree). Then the next game, he...oh well...

This week I think that he matches up extremely well against the Giants secondary, a unit that is not nearly as strong as the Skins. I would hit him on a quick slant early to get his confidence going. From that point forward I just don't see how the Giants can match up with him.

That'd be great. it's Christmas Eve. it's my anniversary, and I work on Monday. This win is a big Christmas/Anniversary gift for me.

Anyone notice that he doesn't drop those on the road? (See DAL, TAMPA, & ATL).
I just posted this on another thread, but I think there is the added pressure of playing in front of the home crowd, and you can see it in their body language and play on the field. I'll bet that he catches two deep passes in NY, and takes one, if not both in for six.

Devery has a problem with his play execution at times. He's gotta get his technique down

Drew said he was trying to go to Devery when he underthrew the pass that resulted in the INT. Devery's drop was as much as good play by the safety as it was a bad play by Devery. He did make a couple of catches in traffic later in the game.

It was clearly a pass he should have caught. His problem was that he never controlled it, bobbling it immediately. He really needs to become more consistent to become more than a 3rd WR in the NFL.

Exactly. I'm am sure that it is something that he and the staff are working on. He has a tendency to bobble or double catch balls, rather than snag them cleanly. In the NFL, that split second of not having the ball secure means that it will be popped out. On the bright side, he does show soft hands at times, when the ball is thrown away from him, forcing him to stretch out and snag it. He appears to have more difficulty with balls that are coming right at him (his chest or in the breadbasket). In other words, he snags the difficult catches (not forced to think, simply reacts) and has difficulty when he is waiting on an easy ball coming at him (loses concentration, relaxes too much).

I just hope he can catch the ball this weekend.

On the plus side if you look at the cycle of devery this is one of his "good" weeks coming up. 100 yards and TD. Bank on it.

Hmm. Good observation
