I think 4 or these guys are still starters in the NFL--bad thing is, out of this group of 4, we only still got Kevin Houser.... lol

Tutan Reyes Carolina (last I heard)
Marc Bulger Rams
Chad Morton still returning kicks for TDs, somewhere, I think.
Kevin Houser Saints :)

youth , depth and future diamonds are in the round 2-5 , especially on positions like DB , were we had lackluster playing the last decade ....

as i mentioned in another thread , the 2nd-5th round is money , just look at the champions ... the colts always have great drafts and some other teams like bears, ravens , pats , packers have good 2nd days also.

when you try to build a team and you have a 100% boom in first round , but nearly 100% bust in the other rounds , it take a long to time to be a contender :)

just look at the guys that went off the board after our picks , in 2nd round alone we had the chance on starters who would have made us a superior team right now...

its hurting my eyes

IMO, we did pretty well all in all.....I think all of the bolded players were good selections at the spots they were taken. Let's be practical here, not many players selected lower than round 4 are going to do much at the NFL level and yet, we've found many.

We had Marc Bulger and we still used Aaron Brooks!!!!!

It looks like we have drafted plenty of good late round players, and Payton has done an excellent job in the late rounds so far.

Just to give you an idea of the success rate of players making teams in rounds 4-7 compared to the Colts and Pats here you go. This is in '06 and '05....I left off '07 becuase it was too recent.

Saints are 3 of 10 in drafting rounds 4-7 with a rate of 30% - 2 starters

Colts are 5 of 10 in drafting rounds 4-7 with a rate of 50% - 1 starter

Pats are 4 of 10 in drafting rounds 4-7 with a rate of 40% - 0 starters

Bears are 6 of 8 in drafting rounds 4-7 with a rate of 75% - 1 starter

Seeing this list shows we don't hit as much but our hits are better for whatever reason.

Kieaho was not a 2nd day pick.... and Giordano is not on the Colts roster anymore...just checked.

Its kind of hard to compare the Pats,Colts and Bears with us because they didnt have a lot of starters leave---there is not a lot of room on their teams for rookies to start.....maybe just the Bears on offense....

i am very familiar with the Bears and I can promise you that Evans and Colston would start for them. They would start for the Pats......ad Evans would start for the Colts, Colston would be behind Wayne/Harrison.

most times they are up and coming starters , where our guys usually out of league three years later ....and you have to mention the quality of starters especially on defense these three teams already have , so its just natural that they arent instant starters .... just take the other years , you only showed up the only successfull draftyear....
all these teams are masters in taking a player in 2nd-5th , develop and let him start in their defense . june , tillman , samuel , brackett ,mark anderson , hobbs, vasher . their teams are loaded with own draftpicks ....
