N/S I wonder with Joe Brady in Carolina, if they plan to use PJ Walker as their Taysom Hill? (1 Viewer)

I was watching some of PJ Walker’s XFL highlights and I could see Carolina trying to use him as a Taysom Hill type of player on offense. He’s only like 5’11”, so I seriously doubt they brought him in to be a regular backup QB. He made some nice highlights throwing off the run as well as some nice runs. But can he catch? 😆

We will likely see a lot of the Saints offense in Carolina this year. They surrounded Teddy with some talent. DJ Moore, Robbie Anderson, and Curtis Samuel have some potential as their receivers. Ian Thomas and Chris Manhertz(liked him when he was here) are some decent tight ends. And Christian McCaffery is a Kamara clone pretty much. They still should come in last place, but I hope to see them do better than the Failclowns.

I think the simplicity of finding a guy for that role is a little overstated. Defenses are sent in based on who huddles on offense. It doesn’t take much coaching imagination to realize If one of those guys can break huddle and go to any of three or four positions, that’s going to cause major issues for defenses. So if the guys were plentiful, they would have been doing it years ago. So the jury is going to be out a while for Stevens or anyone else imagined in that role.

If the player’s name isn’t Taysom Hill, then no one can use “said player” like Taysom Hill. Until a player literally does everything that Taysom does, then it’s null and void. We have a QB that blocks punts, 😂. Taysom is a terror at any given moment. That’s crazy

First of all Joe Brady is NOT Sean Payton and Carolina doesn't have the weapons that the Saints have. Just because Brady worked for the Saints at one time and then had some success at LSU doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to translate.

Yeah they have McCaffery but he had just over 400 touches last season so how long do you think he'll hold up before being worn down to a nub? It's going to catch up to him at some point.

As much as I like Bridgewater I'm afraid Teddy will be longing for the offensive line that he played behind last year and not the one that he will be behind this season.

It’s going to be interesting to see what kind of offense they run. Teddy excelled in a fairly conservative offense here by Sean Payton standards. What Brady called at LSU could probably be called just about anything except conservative.

Steve E called the plays, Joe B called the 3rd down packages. However, he did teach Steve E how to run the spread offense. To go further, Burrow was the true driving force. That dude was deadly accurate and the throws while escaping the pocket isn’t drawn up. That was all Burrow

Teddy is a pocket QB who thrives off a strong running game and utilizing play action passes. It will be interesting to see what type of Offense Brady decides to install at Carolina.

As for PJ Walker goes, if anything he will come in as a change of pace QB to run the read option plays. I don't know much about him except for what few games I did see him play in the XFL. He seems more of the Lamar Jackson type who can scramble around and make plays with his feet or extend plays and allow his WR's to get open. I don't think he will play multiple positions like Taysom does.

Just to be honest if the 3 other teams in our division who I will not mention didn’t win a game and only tied each other when they played I would be fine.

Folks stuck on the Brady bandwagon leave out one little nugget. He wasn't calling all of the plays. Steve Ensminger was calling a lot of the plays as well. Also if you look at the Bowl game the year before last you can see the offense taking form before Brady even got there. Did Brady help a bunch? Yes but he wasn't the end all be all of the record setting LSU offense we saw.

Interesting but I have not seen one person stuck on Brady. In fact, most people I know think it’s a bit early to be jumping to pro OC. That is why it will be interesting. He should have stayed a few more years and shown what he could do IMO.

I have seen tons of hype surrounding Brady. I give him credit he was a part of a team that put the greatest offense we ever seen in college football. How often do you hear Ensminger mentioned? I agree he should've taken another couple of years, but at the same time I can understand why he would take the opportunity. I just hope he can live up to it except when he plays the Saints.
