I had to ask the question. Yes we got screwed but if Dan Arnold makes that catch we are probably not discussing officiating right now. I ‘m talking about the TD he had in his hands and dropped! Watson catches that! This just stinks right now.

Maybe, maybe not.. who CARES? I saw someone else post this but .. the Rams and Saints both had opportunities to score TDs on every possession. I'm tired of this rhetoric. We played well enough to win at the end of the game and we got screwed. That's IT.

If the refs make the correct call and flag the most egregious PI in history are we talking about officiating right now?

If Dan catches that, the play calling may have been different, the whole game would've changed. You can't point out stuff in a vacuum. What if's blah blah blah. Only fact is we did enough to win... but it was taken away from us.

That was not an easy catch that any TE on our roster was guaranteed to make. Also, we can do this for a ton of plays. What if Brees doesn't audible out of the run on first, or he doesn't miss the throw to thomas, or what if the rams punter didn't make a great throw on the 4th down play, etc etc.

Just a bunch of What if’s. We had opportunities . Probably should have blown out the Rams when we had the opportunity.

No of course we are not. But he didn't make the catch so we are. Not sure your point or if it is just a continuation of the "we had other chances" dialogue.

Bottom line is we played the game. We missed chances. LA missed chances.. Thats football.... If the corrupt NFL makes the friggin call we are on the 5 yard line and run out the clock with a game winning... super Bowl advancing.. kick

Everything else is an attempt to rationalize... So please stop

Graham could catch those one handed . Go get him back now.

Like many said, you can't put singular plays in a vacuum.

I will say this though, Arnold has A LOT of improving to do this offseason. He was more a liability than a factor for us this season.

Well, that's gonna be a pretty long list of what if's and honest evaluation of which team played better QB v QB, OL v DL, DL v OL, Linebackers, Secondaries, Special Teams, Coaching -- especially considering the MASSIVE home field advantage we had. And that's going to hurt if we're being honest but it will tell us we can't just stand pat for next season.

But sometimes, rarely, but sometimes, the answer is simple and in this case it is. Only two plays count: the Blown Call and the kick from Lutz which we will never get to see. But there is no reason to think he wouldn't have made an easier kick just three plays later.

Doesn’t matter... he didn’t.

If lightning struck the Superdome at the 2:00 warning in the 1st half and bounced down to the turf killing Marcus Peters, would we be discussing the refs?

The game played out the way it played out.

Then an obvious and blatant penalty was ignored by (not 1) but 2 referees on a critical play that would’ve sealed the game for the Saints.

That’s the only play that matters

Add to that the Smith play at the goal line, if he continues his route it's a PI placing the ball at the 1.

21-0, game over.

Then the unforgivable fake punt conversion. No way in hell that should have happened.

Then the most important drive of the entire game. About 4 minutes to go in the half, up 13-3, we have the opportunity to go on a 3 1/2 minute drive to go up 20-3 at the half. Gave over. Instead we give the ball back and they score 7 with only 15 seconds left on the first half clock.

Let's just say he caught it. Then at the closing of regulation the score would have been 24 - 17. The Rams were at the goal line , they would not have taken that field goal, they would have tried for a TD, and if they scored it would have been Rams 24, Saints 24. They each scored a field goal after that, so the final score would have been Saints 27, Rams 27. OT anyway. That's IF Arnold would have caught the ball.
