You have to be 6'2 or above to be the GOAT, stats and accomplishments come second.

....At least that is basically my read of the talking head class that acts as gatekeeper to these sorts of things throughout Brees's entire career.
Yep, from the media I understand that Brees would need to do something drastic to his personal appearance so he does not "look like an accountant" for him to ever be in the GOAT discussion, regardless of ring count.

Which to this day is just bizarre.

Brees is like the NFL's dream protagonist.

A guy that looks like an everyman that is doing unfathomably extraordinary things. All in the package of a charismatic and humble person that embodies almost every positive characteristic you want to see in a player of this sport.

I know right. They will move the goalpost every time in regards to Brees greatest. I think the NFL has the absolute worst talking heads in all of sports. Case in point you don’t hear NBA talking heads say things like Steph Curry is the greatest under 6 Feet 5 inch basketball player at the present moment. They give Steph Curry his props and reward him with NBA MVP honors. I just don’t understand why there’s some much disrespect from Brees with the national media.

I'd probably hope he'd sign a 1 year deal to see if we could do it again but I'd be happy getting 3 championships from him.

I'll be sad when Drew retires no matter what his age.
If they won back to back SBs if Drew still had it I could see him thinking 3 in a row that's never been done. Then play 1 more year he is just so dang competitive.

If they win this year I would be ok with it. He has nothing left to prove and will always be the GOAT to me

Don't think that is true at all. If Brady is back for another two years, Brees will not retire in the same year Brady does. No way.
I think it's going to come down to how Brees feels, his family input, and where the Saints are on a replacement. I really think that Bridgewater is gonna be back next season. If Brees and Payton continue to see in him what they say they are seeing, we will get to see that next preseason. And Drew will retire at the end of his contract. Bridgewater is the same age as most of this talented youung team, in all three phases. He can continue to grow with and lead this team for years to come under Payton's tutorlage. I don't think Brees' decision to retire has anything to do with Brady.

If he was playing in New York, Chicago, L.A., San Fran, Philly, Green Bay, Dallas...sure

This thread needs to be buried - we got no business talking about two Super Bowls right now
Chuck, in a round-about way, I think the OP was really not focusing on the SB. I think the focus is really on Drew retiring. Don't think the OP is jumping ahead and saying the Saints are gonna win this SB (hope so though) or the next.
