Definately hate to see this happen. Sproles and Cadet are not power runners at all. Ingram runs hard but doesn't have the explosiveness to get anywhere. Chris Ivory and Thomas are the best backs on the team, no doubt about it. Have to say I agree, one of them will likely not be here next year. Not opposed to looking at a back in later rounds, but the one back I would grab in mid rounds would be Leveon Bell. Guy is big, strong, runs hard, athletic, can carry the load, and tested better than many thought he would. Guy was Michigan States offense. Everyone knew he was going to get the ball and he still produced.Well we could just go with Ingram, Sproles and Cadet.
I just can't see how people are ok with letting Thomas go. He may be the only one with any real trade value, but still, to get rid of arguably our best back (and pass protector) is ludicrous.
3 of our current 5 backs are UDFAs. Don't see us investing any more picks in the backfield.
I think some folks are just infatuated with the revolving door approach. This isn't college where you get a player for 3 - 4 yrs then the next guy steps up. It's almost like they're sayin "o ok, I've seen what you can do, now let's see what someone else looks like in a Saints uni". Pierre is valuable to this team, has proven himself. I'd rather have someone proven than some unproven rookie.
